To ensure the safety and well-being of our youngest members, all volunteers must complete the Child & Youth Protection Clearance Process. Please follow the instructions below to complete the necessary requirements.
Who Needs to Complete What?
- Adult Volunteers (age 18+) – Complete Steps 1 through 4
- Youth Volunteers (under 18) – Complete Steps 1, 3, and 4

STEP 1: Volunteer Application Form
Choose the appropriate application based on your role:

STEP 2: Required Background Clearances (Adults Only)
All adult volunteers must have current clearances (within 3 years). Submit existing clearances (if dated after 9/1/22) to Mary Richards
1. PA Criminal History Record Clearance
2. PA Child Abuse History Clearance

- PA Child Abuse Instructions
- The PA Child Abuse Clearance is free every 5 years. If overlapping in a 3-year cycle, contact Mary Richards for a payment code
3. Federal FBI Clearance
- If a PA resident for 10+ years, complete the Exemption Form
- If lived outside of PA in the last 10 years, complete:
- FBI Clearance Website
- FBI Clearance Instructions, contact Mary Richards for payment code
After submitting these clearances, complete the Exemption Certification Form
STEP 3: BMPC Protection Training (All volunteers)
Complete the BMPC Child & Youth Protection Training. Training must be renewed annually. In-person is preferred for first-time volunteers. We also offer an online training option through Google classrooms

STEP 4: Certification and Consent Form
Once you've completed your application and training, please fill out the required acknowledgement form
